I thought I'd write a blog post to show what I've been up to (and to have a lot of shameless self promotion).
Claret Clef Music & Arts
Firstly I have officially launched my business.
Claret Clef
Music & Arts aims to provide music and arts workshops to schools,
community groups and arts/theatre establishments within the
Northamptonshire area. The ethos of the business is to encourage all
within the community to have access to music and the arts. The
business will also offer the Arts Award qualification at Discover,
Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels to young people aged 6 - 25
to community groups and the home school network.
It's been a slow start but I'm hoping that I'll start picking up more interest. I'm always open for suggestions of work to do under this umbrella of Claret Clef which is why the brief is very general. I've found with this type of work that it's often more productive to have an open mind.
Northamptonshire Artists in Learning Network
I am currently heavily involved in the re-launch of the Northamptonshire Artists in Learning Network. I am the Secretary of the Network and we are currently working on an event to raise awareness of the network to both artists and schools and organisations.
It should be a good event. Gives me a definitive deadline to get my promotional material together as well.
Northampton Concert Band
I have recently joined the Northampton Concert Band. It's been a ridiculously long time since I played the flute properly (when I say properly I mean actual pieces rather than me just randomly playing christmas carols in July). I'm really enjoying it. It's hard work, mainly because rehearsals are on a sunday morning, and I'm really having to improve my sight reading very quickly but it's the challenge I've needed in terms of music for a long time.
We have a concert on March 10th.
Well I think that's all that has been going on. Obviously I'm still in the Royal and Derngate Community Choir. We have a pre-show on 6th February at 6.45pm if you want to come along to that.
